Mining for ancient debris is a fun challenge with a properly enchanted diamond pickaxe, just spin in a circle and poof you have a 10 block wide circle around you clear of blocks. If you simply wish to get the basic amount of netherite needed it won't actually take you that long. You can not mine ancient debris without a diamond pickaxe.
